Analogue Attitude
The exhibition Kronplatz >12 by Nicola Morandini, kicks off the 00A Center for contemporary Photography’s broader project, Analogue Attitude. The project is a choral reflection that anticipates the bicentenary of this expressive medium: a path alongside the medium that the public can follow, promoting cultural exchange between experts from academia and art, interweaving the history of photography with the work of contemporary visual artists. For several years now, the 00A Board, led first by Christian Martinelli and now by Andrea Salvà, has been creating a space of dialogue on the origins of photography. They have thus undertaken a process of cultural, historical, and aesthetic reconstruction that covers two hundred years of evolution in thought, the arts and the sciences, in the light of our present era’s over-exposure to the visual.
As a project, Analogue Attitude does not set out to position the analogue and digital media in opposition to one another; rather, it aims to place at its center a human process that necessitates passion, slowness, discipline, discernment, attention to detail, tactility, in order “to refine our gaze, our emotional competence and our self-awareness”1 . For 00A, therefore, art is not only the main means of promoting visual education, it also testifies to a modus vivendi that is still attainable today, one that is rooted in culture, science and relationality. From a systemic point of view, the deployment of an analogical approach to disseminate beauty aims to achieve a contemporary version of the ancient concept of beauty, a blending of aesthetics and value in which time is not only Chronos, but above all Kairos.
